Frequently Asked Questions

Sizing

You’ll need a soft tape measure (and a treat).

Chest — the one that matters most. With your dog standing square, wrap the tape around the deepest part of the chest, just behind the front legs. Snug, not tight — you should be able to slide a finger underneath.

Back length — coats and fleeces only. Measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. If it’s more than 2cm off the length for your size, add your dog’s length in the checkout notes and we’ll cut it to fit. Harnesses don’t need a length.

In between sizes? Size up. Round up to the next whole centimetre, and if your dog lands right on the line between two sizes, pick the bigger one — our Velcro has plenty of room to tighten, but it can’t stretch.

Still unsure? Email your measurements (and a photo, if you like) to bark@wondercoat.co.uk and we’ll size your dog for you. See our Fitting Guide for the full size chart.

Yes. Everything we make is designed around the Dachshund shape. Most standards are a size 5 or 6. Bigger boys and girls with a chest over 60cm are a size 7, which we make to order through Wondercoat Studio.

First, double-check your measurements — a wriggly dog can add a centimetre or two! If your dog is smaller than a size 1 or bigger than a size 6, or has an unusually long or short back, we’ll make it to measure: choose Wondercoat Studio, or pick the closest size and add your dog’s chest and back length in the checkout notes.

Our harnesses step in — no wrestling them over your dog’s head. Pop their front legs through, wrap it up and fasten it with the wide, high-grade Velcro strap on the back. It’s quick for wriggly pups, gentle on sore joints, and very secure. To keep the Velcro gripping, brush out any fur or grit now and then.

The Harness Coat is fully waterproof with a cosy fleece lining — made for proper winter weather. The Technical Fleece is a water-resistant soft-shell: ideal for light rain, chilly mornings and layering over your harness.
